Highlight of the Month!

We are incredibly grateful that The Tide is being shown by Cutshorts Festival at Picturehouse Chester to help raise awareness of the realities many women face within domestic abuse and the family court system.

The Tide tells the story of Zoe, a domestic abuse survivor forced to engage with her abuser through an unforgiving family court process while facing the devastating threat of losing custody of her son.
This powerful film shines a light on experiences that are too often unseen, misunderstood or silenced.
At Her-Place, our Believe In Her project supports women who have experienced domestic abuse and women at risk of child removal offering advocacy, support and a safe space during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

What is the Believe service and what do we do?

We currently offer a range of different support options to suit individual needs and are continually expanding our offering.

This includes our flagship support and advocacy service for mums on a Child Protection Plan or on the Born into care pathway.

Clients meeting the above criteria are allocated a named support advocate who works alongside them to provide practical and emotional support and advocacy. Clients also receive onward signposting where appropriate and use our flower tool regularly to determine areas of support required and work through these areas. The service is client led and our support covers a wide range of areas.

We host a Domestic Abuse peer support group to provide a safe space for survivors to come together.

Professionals also benefit from our support with our Believe Ambassador hybrid training programme and a Community of Practice as a regular space to share ideas and best practice and affect positive change in this area.

Our website provides further support through our glossary of technical terms that are commonly used in Social Care to make it easier for parents who may not know what these terms mean and is accessible to all and through our onward signposting section

The Believe Journey - How we support our clients

Every mum has access to a dedicated support worker who will work through our bespoke “Believe Mental Health Support Programme” with them.

As part of this process we encourage you to meet with your Advocate face to face, once a fortnight, on the alternative week we keep in contact via email, text or phone.

We are happy to help and support you through your journey, a key to this is building a relationship of trust, openness and guidance.

Our programme is based around The Her-Place Flower – working through mums’ own ‘personal journey’ and tailored to mums’ own personal requirements.

The Her-Place Flower will help us track, monitor and support you on your journey.
